Custom tuning is strongly recommended for the SL-100-008. The Stage 1 turbocharger moves more air than the factory GTP38 configuration, and the engine calibration should be matched to the upgraded turbocharger, injectors, fueling system, and supporting modifications to take full advantage of that additional airflow. Running the turbocharger on a factory calibration may limit its performance because the engine calibration and upgraded airflow capability are not fully matched. A custom calibration from a qualified 7.3L Powerstroke tuner can properly coordinate fueling, boost control, and the rest of the truck’s performance combination. SPOOLOGIC does not supply, write, sell, or assist with custom tuning. No proprietary SPOOLOGIC compressor map or turbo-specific calibration file is required; the tuner should calibrate the truck based on its complete combination of turbocharger, injectors, fueling, and supporting modifications.

5+5 Billet Compressor Wheel — SPOOLOGIC SL-220-003

The SL-100-008 uses the SPOOLOGIC SL-220-003 5+5 billet aluminum compressor wheel as the primary airflow upgrade over the Stock Plus turbo. Five full-length main blades and five splitter blades are paired with an extended-tip profile designed to increase airflow capability and broaden the usable compressor range. The design is intended to improve performance at higher boost levels, provide a more pronounced turbo sound, and help reduce the compressor surge associated with the factory GTP38 compressor design.

Turbine Wheel & Internal Wastegate

The factory-style GTP38 turbine wheel and internally wastegated turbine housing are retained to preserve the responsive characteristics of the original GTP38 while working with the higher-flowing Stage 1 compressor. The turbine side is paired with an upgraded SPOOLOGIC 30 PSI wastegate actuator as standard equipment, allowing the wastegate to remain closed to a higher pressure than the factory-style 22 PSI actuator used on the Stock and Stock Plus configurations.

? Boost Fooler Required

A compatible boost fooler is required with the SL-100-008 because the upgraded 30 PSI wastegate actuator is standard equipment. The higher wastegate setting can allow boost pressure to exceed the range expected by the factory PCM, which can trigger an overboost-related check-engine light. The required boost-fooler hardware should be installed as part of the turbocharger installation.

Non-EBPV Pedestal & Outlet Configuration

The SL-100-008 includes a SPOOLOGIC Non-EBPV turbo pedestal and Non-EBPV turbo outlet plate in place of the factory exhaust back-pressure valve components. Removing the EBPV flap from the exhaust path reduces restriction and eliminates the EBPV valve assembly as a potential leak and service point. A SPOOLOGIC EBPV terminator is also included for the factory electrical connection after the valve assembly is removed.

1-Year Limited Warranty

Every SPOOLOGIC turbocharger is covered by a 1-Year Limited Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of purchase. Warranty coverage requires that the unit first be shipped back to SPOOLOGIC for inspection. If SPOOLOGIC determines the failure was caused by a defect in materials or workmanship, the turbocharger will be repaired or replaced at SPOOLOGIC’s discretion. Warranty does not cover damage from foreign object debris, oil starvation, contaminated oil, extended oil change intervals, over-boosting, over-fueling, operation beyond the turbocharger’s intended operating range, improper installation, use outside the listed fitment, cosmetic wear, coating discoloration, or normal heat cycling marks. Warranty does not cover labor, shipping, towing, downtime, or any other costs outside the turbocharger itself.
