The SPOOLOGIC SL-100-036 is a brand new, complete V2S compound twin-turbo Stock Plus set for 2008-2010 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty trucks with the 6.4L Powerstroke. This set includes both the small front-mounted high pressure (HP) VGT and the large rear-mounted low pressure (LP) atmospheric turbo, both built with 7+7 billet extended-tip compressor wheels and ceramic-coated turbine housings and center sections, plus a full 6.4L Powerstroke turbo install gasket kit — a complete billet upgrade for both halves of the compound system in one box.

Expect roughly 30-50 RWHP and 15-25 lb-ft of torque over a stock or worn factory compound set — a bigger gain than either billet turbo alone since both compressors are upgraded together. It’s the right set for owners who want a noticeable step up over a tired or worn factory V2S system without going all the way to a full Stage 1 build. Every SPOOLOGIC turbo is built brand new — never remanufactured — and backed by a 1-Year Limited Warranty.

⚠ CUSTOM TUNING RECOMMENDED — READ BEFORE YOU BUY

Custom tuning is highly recommended to get the full potential out of this set. The SL-100-036 will physically bolt up and run on the factory tune because it retains the factory electronic VGT control system on the HP side — but the factory calibration is written for the factory cast wheels on both turbos. It does not know how to take advantage of the larger billet HP or LP compressors, the extended-tip exducers, or the upgraded internals. You leave a meaningful amount of airflow, response, and top-end on the table without a tune.

To unlock what this set was built to do, plan on a custom tune from a qualified 6.4L Powerstroke tuner. SPOOLOGIC does not supply, write, sell, or assist with custom tunes — please line up your tuning shop before the install if you want the truck to perform the way this set was designed to.

6.4L V2S Compound Twin-Turbo System — How It Works

The 6.4L Powerstroke runs a sequential V2S compound twin-turbo system — the most complex factory turbo setup Ford ever put on a diesel. A small front-mounted high pressure (HP) variable-geometry turbo spools first for off-idle response, feeding compressed air into the inlet of a larger rear-mounted low pressure (LP) atmospheric turbo as boost builds. At higher RPM and load, the HP turbine backs off and acts more like a diffuser while the LP turbo takes over the bulk of the airflow. Both turbines run off the same exhaust stream, in reverse order from the compressor side — which is exactly why this set upgrades both halves together instead of just one.

Choose Your Coating Finish

Use the dropdown above to select your ceramic coating color. The 7+7 billet compressor wheels on both the HP and LP turbos, the ceramic-coated turbine housings and center sections, the new VGT solenoid/unison ring/vanes, and the full install gasket kit are standard on every color option — only the finish changes.

Ceramic Coating Color Options

  • Raw — Natural ceramic finish, no added pigment
  • Black — Black ceramic finish on both turbine housings and center sections
  • Red — Red ceramic finish on both turbine housings and center sections

High Pressure Turbo (Front) — 7+7 Billet

The high pressure side uses the SPOOLOGIC SL-220-023 7+7 billet extended-tip compressor wheel and the SL-240-008 high pressure turbine shaft. The 5-axis CNC-machined forged billet aluminum wheel keeps the proven 7+7 OE base geometry with 79.7mm extended exducer tips for measurably better airflow on the high pressure side.

  • Compressor inducer / exducer: 51.8mm / 74.1mm base / 79.7mm extended-tip
  • Compressor blade count: 7+7 billet aluminum
  • Turbine inducer / exducer: 69.9mm / 62.7mm
  • Turbine blade count: 11, variable geometry

Low Pressure Turbo (Rear) — 7+7 Billet

The low pressure side uses the SPOOLOGIC SL-220-022 7+7 billet extended-tip compressor wheel and the SL-240-007 low pressure turbine shaft. The 5-axis CNC-machined forged billet aluminum wheel keeps the proven 7+7 OE base geometry with 96mm extended exducer tips for measurably better airflow, quicker spool, and cooler EGTs on the atmospheric side.

  • Compressor inducer / exducer: 64.5mm / 88mm base / 96mm extended-tip
  • Compressor blade count: 7+7 billet aluminum
  • Turbine inducer / exducer: 79.6mm / 73.2mm
  • Turbine blade count: 10

Ceramic Coated Turbine Housings & Center Sections

SPOOLOGIC ceramic coats both the turbine housing and the center section (CHRA) on both turbos in this set. This isn’t high-temp paint — it’s a true thermal barrier rated for the 1,600°F+ surface temperatures a diesel turbine sees under sustained load. Choose from Raw, Black, or Red ceramic finish. The real, measurable benefits:

  • Drops turbine housing surface temps 33-50% — far less radiant heat dumped into the engine bay, which protects wiring harnesses, oil lines, hoses, and EGR components from long-term heat damage
  • Reduces post-shutdown heat soak into the CHRA and bearing oil — the #1 cause of premature turbo failure is oil baking on the bearing journals after shutdown, and the coating interrupts the radiant feedback loop that causes it
  • Retains exhaust energy in the gas stream — keeping heat in the exhaust where it belongs (driving the turbine wheel) instead of soaking into the housing
  • Corrosion and thermal-fatigue resistant — cast iron scales, pits, and cracks over years of heat cycling; the ceramic barrier protects the housings for the long haul

Upgraded Internals — Standard

Both turbos in this set are assembled with upgraded internal components that go beyond a basic factory-style replacement:

  • Extreme duty journal bearings — premium bronze-alloy bearings machined to tighter tolerances with improved oil groove geometry, maintaining the precise oil film that keeps the turbo shaft centered at 100,000+ RPM — even under higher heat and shaft loads
  • 360-degree thrust bearing — added strength and load capacity over the factory 270-degree bearing, better at handling boost-driven thrust loads
  • Step gap seal rings — improved sealing performance, less blow-by past the CHRA
  • High-speed VSR balancing — smooth, dependable operation and longer bearing life
  • New VGT solenoid, unison ring, and vanes on the high pressure turbo — required for proper variable-geometry operation, installed and ready to run

6.4L Powerstroke — What You Need to Know

The 6.4L Powerstroke has its own well-known trouble spots, separate from turbo hardware. The factory HP and LP units are failure-prone on their own — sticking VGT vanes, coked-up center section bearings, cracked turbine housings, and LP compressor wheels that disintegrate at higher mileage. The engine side has issues too: cracked pistons at high mileage or high boost, and injectors that leak fuel into the oil — the source of the 6.4L’s known runaway risk. None of that is caused by the turbos, and the SL-100-036 does not fix it. This set adds airflow to a compound system that is otherwise healthy; it does nothing to strengthen a piston or stop injector-related oil dilution. If you’re building toward the top of this set’s power gain, have the engine side inspected and get supporting mods in place first — not after something lets go.

Recommended Supporting Mods

To get the most out of this billet compound set and keep everything running clean and safe, we recommend (all sold separately):

  • Custom tune — The single biggest unlock for this set’s added airflow, and required to run both billet compressors the way they’re built to run
  • Injector maintenance or upgrade — Leaking injectors are a known 6.4L oil-dilution risk; healthy injectors matter more once you’re asking the compound system for more air
  • Upgraded intercooler piping — Factory piping is a common failure point under sustained higher boost; upgraded pipes hold up where stock pipes crack
  • EGR/DPF delete — Reduces exhaust restriction and heat load on the turbine side of the compound system, where legal for off-road use
