The SPOOLOGIC SL-510-001 Heavy Duty 304SS High-Flow Bellowed Up-Pipe Kit replaces the original exhaust up-pipe assembly on 1994–1997 Ford F-250 F-350 OBS trucks with the 7.3L Powerstroke. Designed around the TP38 turbo configuration, the kit combines mandrel-bent 304 stainless steel pipes, integrated expansion bellows, and a ceramic-coated ductile iron collector. The matched assembly restores the exhaust path from the manifolds to the turbocharger while allowing the pipes to move through repeated heat cycles.

Features

  • Mandrel-bent 304 stainless steel up-pipes with a raw stainless finish
  • Integrated multi-layer bellows accommodate thermal expansion and contraction
  • TIG-welded pipe construction and bolted collector connections
  • Ceramic-coated ductile iron exhaust collector
  • Matched driver-side and passenger-side pipes with an application-specific collector
  • Supplied installation gaskets, O-rings, and mounting hardware

Bellowed Up-Pipe Design

Up-pipes carry exhaust from both exhaust manifolds to the turbocharger turbine inlet. A leak in this section allows exhaust energy to escape before it reaches the turbine, which can reduce boost and slow turbo response. The original rigid pipes rely on sealing joints that can deteriorate through repeated heating and cooling. Bellowed sections allow the replacement pipes to expand and contract while reducing movement and loading at the collector connections. Restoring a leaking exhaust path can recover lost performance; results depend on the condition of the original system and the rest of the engine.

What's Included

Fitment

  • 1994–1997 Ford F-250 F-350 OBS 7.3L Powerstroke
  • 1995–1997 Ford E-350 Econoline 7.3L Powerstroke

Common Up-Pipe Leak Symptoms

  • Dry black soot around the up-pipe connections or behind the engine
  • Ticking, hissing, or exhaust noise that becomes more noticeable under load
  • Slower turbo response, reduced boost, or reduced pulling power
  • Increased smoke or exhaust gas temperature under comparable operating conditions

These symptoms are reasons to inspect the exhaust system, not proof that the up-pipes are the only fault. Check the exhaust manifolds, collector connections, intake plumbing, and turbocharger before replacing parts. On intercooled applications, inspect the charge-air boots and intercooler for leaks as well.

Installation Notes

Turbocharger removal is recommended for improved access to the collector, upper pipe connections, and sealing surfaces. Position the replacement pipes and collector loosely, then establish alignment with the turbo before final tightening of the manifold connections.

  • Preparation: Work on a cold engine, disconnect both negative battery cables, and apply penetrating oil to the exhaust fasteners. Move or remove the downpipe as needed for clearance.
  • Inspection: Clean and inspect the manifold outlets, collector flanges, and turbine inlet. Replace damaged hardware, correct damaged sealing surfaces, and protect open intake and oil passages from debris.
  • Loose assembly: Install both pipes with the matching collector and flange gaskets. Start all fasteners loosely so the collector can align with the turbo. Position the collector and pipes separately as clearance allows.
  • OBS TP38 connection: Use the supplied collector-to-turbo gasket at the bolted turbine-inlet flange. Reinstall the turbo and pedestal assembly with the appropriate new seals, then align the collector squarely with the turbo before final tightening.
  • Final tightening: Confirm that the turbo, collector, and manifold connections align before tightening. Follow the sequence and torque specifications for the kit hardware. Do not twist the pipes, overextend the bellows, or force misaligned connections together.
  • Seals and clearance: Replace disturbed turbo and pedestal O-rings. Lubricate oil-sealing O-rings with clean engine oil, and check clearance around the bellows, downpipe, wiring, and hoses.
  • Leak check: Inspect for exhaust and oil leaks after startup. After the first drive and a complete cool-down, recheck fasteners and clearance. Correct fresh soot, exhaust noise, or oil seepage before continued use.

ProSource Diesel is a great company!

I had a problem with the Spoologic up-pipe collector bolt holes being off center, they didn't line up with the up-pipes, I got a hold of ProSource, sent them a picture and they had a new one out to...
