SPOOLOGIC Turbo To Spyder O-Ring

The SPOOLOGIC SL-310-002 Turbo-to-Spyder O-Ring replaces the compressor outlet seal on 1994–1997 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke OBS pickups and Early 1999 Super Duty trucks. This brown Viton O-ring seals the connection between the turbocharger outlet and intake spider, helping prevent pressurized air from escaping at the joint. Also called a turbo outlet O-ring or turbo-to-spider seal, it provides a replacement for a hardened, flattened, or damaged seal during turbocharger or intake service.

Turbo Outlet Sealing

The compressor outlet carries pressurized air from the turbocharger into the intake plumbing. The O-ring seals the joint where the spider assembly attaches to the compressor housing. A damaged or displaced seal can allow boost pressure to escape even when the connecting clamp is tight.

Inspect this seal whenever the connection is separated. Replacing a worn O-ring can correct a leak at this joint, but the mating flanges and clamp must also be clean, aligned, and undamaged.

1999 application note: Early and Late 1999 trucks use different compressor outlet seals. Match the seal to the installed turbocharger and spider connection, especially if the truck has been converted to a different turbo configuration.

Signs of a Possible Turbo Outlet Seal Leak

• Hissing or escaping air at the compressor outlet connection
• Lower-than-normal boost or reduced response under load
• A cut, flattened, hardened, or displaced O-ring found during inspection

These symptoms can have other causes. Confirm the leak location before replacing parts.

Installation Notes

• Preparation: Clean the sealing groove and mating flange without scratching either surface.
• Inspection: Check the outlet flange and clamp for damage before assembly.
• Placement: Seat the new O-ring evenly in the groove without twisting or stretching it.
• Alignment: Align the connection before tightening. Keep the O-ring seated.
• Tightening: Follow the applicable service procedure and clamp torque specification.
• Verification: Check the repaired connection for air leakage after installation.
