SPOOLOGIC Turbo to Spyder O-Ring

The SPOOLOGIC SL-310-003 Turbo-to-Spyder O-Ring replaces the compressor outlet seal on Late 1999–2003 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke Super Duty trucks and 2000–2003 Excursions. This black Viton O-ring seals the connection between the turbocharger outlet and intake spider, helping prevent boost leaks at the joint. Also called a turbo outlet O-ring or compressor discharge seal, it fits the late-style GTP38 connection and compatible GTP38R turbochargers that retain that outlet design.

Turbo Outlet Sealing

This O-ring sits in the compressor discharge groove and seals against the mating spider connection. It helps contain pressurized air as it leaves the turbocharger and enters the charge-air plumbing.

Age, damage, or incorrect positioning can prevent the seal from seating properly. Inspect it whenever the spider assembly is disconnected or the turbocharger is replaced. A fresh O-ring restores the sealing element at this joint; damaged flanges, misalignment, and clamp problems must be addressed separately.

Compatible with the factory late-style GTP38 compressor outlet and GTP38R turbochargers using the matching outlet connection.

1999 application note: This is the late-style outlet seal. Early 1999 trucks require SL-310-002 unless the turbocharger and connecting intake components have been converted to the late configuration.

Signs of a Possible Turbo Outlet Seal Leak

• Hissing or escaping air at the turbo-to-spider connection
• Lower-than-normal boost or reduced response under load
• A cut, flattened, hardened, or displaced O-ring found during inspection

Inspect the surrounding charge-air boots, clamps, and plumbing as well. These symptoms alone do not identify the O-ring as the source.

Installation Notes

• Preparation: Clean the compressor discharge groove and mating flange.
• Inspection: Check the flange and connecting clamp for damage.
• Placement: Seat the O-ring evenly in the groove without twisting or pinching it.
• Alignment: Position the spider connection squarely before tightening the clamp.
• Tightening: Follow the applicable service procedure and clamp torque specification.
• Verification: Check the repaired connection for air leakage after installation.
