The SPOOLOGIC SL-340-003 is a brand new, direct drop-in stock replacement EBPV turbo pedestal for 1999.5-2003 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty trucks, 2000-2003 Ford E-350, E-450, and E-550 Econoline vans, and 2000-2003 Ford Excursions with the 7.3L Powerstroke. Built to factory Garrett GTP38 pedestal specifications with the hydraulic EBPV actuator built into the casting — so the cold-start back pressure system continues to work the way Ford engineered it.

This is a true stock replacement, not a performance upgrade. It's the right pedestal for daily drivers, work and fleet trucks, tow rigs, and restoration builds where the pedestal is cracked, leaking, or the EBPV solenoid has failed and the truck needs the factory back-pressure system restored.

What This Pedestal Does

The turbo pedestal mounts the turbo to the block and carries the oil and coolant passages that lubricate and cool the turbo bearings. On the 1999.5-2003 7.3L Powerstroke, the pedestal also houses the EBPV solenoid and hydraulic actuator that close a butterfly valve in the turbine outlet during cold starts, building back pressure to warm the engine faster and quiet cold-start noise. The SL-340-003 ships as a complete assembly with the solenoid and actuator already installed, pre-clocked, and pre-sealed, so the EBPV system is ready to plug into the OE harness and function exactly like the original.

Materials & Construction

New aluminum pedestal body with a fresh EBPV bore, clean turbo mounting deck, and unstripped pedestal-to-block bolt bosses. Internal oil and coolant passages are machined to OE tolerances. Yellow Viton fluoroelastomer O-rings are rated for 400°F continuous service and hold up in the valley heat where nitrile would harden and crack. The EBPV solenoid and hydraulic actuator are installed at factory clocking and ship ready to plug into the OE harness connector.

Install Notes

Replace all pedestal O-rings any time the pedestal is unbolted from the block or the turbo is unbolted from the pedestal — old O-rings will not re-seat. Torque pedestal-to-block bolts to Ford service manual spec (typically 30 ft-lb) in a cross pattern. Torque turbo-to-pedestal bolts to 18 ft-lb — do not exceed 25 ft-lb or you will pinch the O-rings and cause a leak. Reconnect the EBPV solenoid harness before dropping the intake plenum. Slide the EBPV actuator rod retaining clip onto the actuator rod and lock it into the butterfly lever arm before final assembly.

Every SPOOLOGIC turbo pedestal kit is covered by a 1-Year Limited Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of purchase. Warranty coverage requires that the unit first be shipped back to SPOOLOGIC for inspection. If SPOOLOGIC determines the failure was caused by a defect in materials or workmanship, the turbo pedestal kit will be repaired or replaced at SPOOLOGIC’s discretion. Warranty does not cover labor, towing, downtime, consequential damages, failures caused by improper installation, failures caused by dirty or damaged mating surfaces, reuse of any included gasket, O-ring, or crush washer, or use outside the listed fitment.
