The SPOOLOGIC SL-340-007-V2 is a Non-EBPV turbo pedestal service kit paired with SPOOLOGIC 304 stainless bellowed up-pipes for 1994-1997 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks and 1995-1997 Ford E-350 Econoline vans with the 7.3L Powerstroke. Two of the 7.3L's most common leak sources fixed in a single part number: a complete pedestal rebuild — pedestal, outlet plate, terminator, O-rings, gaskets, and hardware — plus a matched set of high-flow bellowed up-pipes with turbo-side V-band clamps.

The 7.3L up-pipes fail from thermal cycling — the OE donut gaskets and crimped joints crack and leak exhaust before it reaches the turbo, killing spool and driving up EGT. Doing a pedestal rebuild without addressing the up-pipes leaves a known failure point installed on a fresh mounting surface. This kit fixes both jobs while the turbo is already off, so the truck goes back together with a fresh pedestal AND a leak-free path from the manifolds to the turbine.

What This Kit Does

The full base rebuild kit plus a SPOOLOGIC 304SS high-flow bellowed up-pipe kit and matching V-band clamps — the OE 94-97 up-pipes are a known failure point that crack at the flex joint and dump exhaust into the valley. This kit combines the pedestal service with a permanent up-pipe upgrade in one box. Every part in this kit is a SPOOLOGIC-manufactured component built to OE tolerances or better — no mixed brands, no swap-meet parts, no OE cores.

Why Replace the Up-Pipes

The up-pipes carry exhaust from both exhaust manifolds up and back to the turbine collector at the turbo. The 7.3L OE up-pipes use donut gaskets or flat crush gaskets that fail from thermal cycling — leaks show up as a loss of turbo response, hissing under load, and black soot around the collectors. SPOOLOGIC 304 stainless up-pipes use bellowed expansion joints that absorb thermal growth without cracking, so the leak point is engineered out instead of just replaced with the same failure-prone design. They're a direct bolt-in with factory clocking, and the difference in spool response is noticeable as soon as full exhaust pressure reaches the turbo. On a base pedestal service the up-pipes are already unbolted for access — this is the perfect time to replace them.

Symptoms This Kit Fixes

  • Oil leaks from the pedestal-to-block joint or the pedestal-to-turbo joint
  • Coolant weeping past hardened or cracked pedestal O-rings
  • EBPV stuck open or stuck closed — solenoid or actuator failure
  • Slow warm-up, cold-start smoke, or excessive cold-start noise
  • Cracked, corroded, or previously-repaired pedestal
  • Turbo bolt bosses stripped or pulled out of the pedestal
  • Hissing or ticking under load from a leaking up-pipe joint
  • Loss of spool or sluggish turbo response at low RPM
  • Black soot around the up-pipe collectors or turbine inlet

Why Delete the EBPV

The factory exhaust back pressure valve is a common failure point on the 7.3L Powerstroke. When the solenoid sticks or the actuator seizes, the truck will not warm up properly, will smoke on cold start, and can throw drivability codes. This kit deletes the EBPV entirely — the pedestal ships with a pre-installed EBPV terminator that plugs the actuator bore and blocks the internal oil passage, and the outlet plate ships without a flap or actuator rod for a clean exhaust path. No solenoid to fail, no actuator to seize, no snap ring to lose.

Materials & Construction

New aluminum pedestal body with the EBPV bore terminated at the factory, clean turbo mounting deck, and unstripped pedestal-to-block bolt bosses. New Non-EBPV outlet plate with no flap and no actuator rod — a clean exhaust path from the turbine housing to the downpipe. Yellow Viton fluoroelastomer O-rings are rated for 400°F continuous service. Multi-layer steel T4 turbo flange gasket. Bellowed 304 stainless up-pipes with expansion joints that absorb thermal growth instead of cracking. All hardware is new — no reused OE bolts.

Install Notes

Replace all pedestal O-rings any time the pedestal is unbolted from the block or the turbo is unbolted from the pedestal — old O-rings will not re-seat. Torque pedestal-to-block bolts to Ford service manual spec (typically 30 ft-lb) in a cross pattern. Torque turbo-to-pedestal bolts to 18 ft-lb — do not exceed 25 ft-lb or you will pinch the O-rings and cause a leak. The 94-97 outlet plate uses 3 M8 12-point bolts — an 8mm 12-point socket is required, the bolt heads sit in a shallow counterbore that will not accept a hex socket. Seat the up-pipe V-band clamps evenly and torque in a criss-cross pattern to keep the flange faces parallel. Cap or remove the OE EBPV harness connector — it is no longer used with the Non-EBPV pedestal.

  • Bellowed 304 stainless up-pipes eliminate the OE thermal-cracking failure point
  • Fresh yellow Viton O-rings and Viton outlet O-ring in the box
  • Eliminates the EBPV failure points — no solenoid, no actuator, no snap ring
  • Direct bolt-in fit — factory clocking, factory bolt pattern, factory turbo mount
