The SPOOLOGIC VGT Tune-Up Kit — Vane Position Sensor + VGT Solenoid SL-600-039 pairs a brand new, direct-replacement vane position sensor with a brand new VGT solenoid for 2004.5-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500 6.6L Duramax LLY/LBZ/LMM/LML; 2004.5-2016 GMC Sierra 2500/3500 6.6L Duramax LLY/LBZ/LMM/LML; 2006-2016 Chevrolet Express 2500/3500/4500 6.6L Duramax; and other 6.6L Duramax platforms equipped with the factory Garrett GT3788VA VGT. It replaces the two most common wear items on the Duramax VGT actuation circuit in a single service — instead of swapping one part, clearing codes, and hoping the failure doesn’t come back on the other one a month later.

It’s the right kit for owners chasing down P0045, P003A, P226C, P0299, or P0234 codes that keep returning after individual sensor or solenoid replacements — the failure modes that trace back to the entire VGT actuation circuit needing service, not just one part.

What the VGT Tune-Up Kit Does on the 6.6L Duramax

The VGT tune-up kit combines the two most common wear items on the Duramax LLY/LBZ/LMM/LML variable-geometry turbo — the vane position sensor and the VGT solenoid — into a single service kit. The vane position sensor feeds the ECM real-time position feedback for the vane assembly; the VGT solenoid controls the oil pressure that actually moves the vanes. When either one drifts or fails, the ECM loses closed-loop control of the turbo — under-boost, over-boost, hesitation, black smoke, and P0045, P003A, or P226C codes. Replacing both parts together resets the entire VGT actuation circuit in one shot instead of chasing the failure back and forth.

Common 6.6L Duramax VGT Fault Codes

  • P0045 — Turbocharger boost control position sensor circuit. Sensor is out of range or the actuator has stopped responding.
  • P003A — Turbocharger boost control position not learned. ECM cannot calibrate VGT position without valid sensor feedback and functioning solenoid.
  • P226C — Turbocharger boost control "A" slow response. Sluggish vane motion, usually a failing solenoid or drifting sensor.
  • P0299 — Turbocharger under-boost.
  • P0234 — Turbocharger over-boost.

Symptoms Addressed by This Kit

  • Under-boost or over-boost events — vane feedback or solenoid actuation drifting off
  • Sluggish throttle response and black smoke — VGT running open-loop against a default table
  • Intermittent limp mode — ECM losing closed-loop turbo control
  • P0045, P003A, P226C, P0299, or P0234 codes that keep returning after individual part swaps
  • Check engine light with any of the codes above

Built to OEM Specification

Every SPOOLOGIC VGT tune-up kit uses a vane position sensor and VGT solenoid built to factory electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic specifications and pre-tested before shipment. Signal output, sweep range, and connector pinout on the sensor match the original Garrett-supplied unit; solenoid coil resistance, oil-flow calibration, and mounting geometry match the factory solenoid — so the ECM sees the same feedback and actuation response it’s calibrated for.

What’s Included

  • 1 brand new SPOOLOGIC vane position sensor — pre-tested to OEM signal and fitment specs
  • 1 brand new SPOOLOGIC VGT solenoid — pre-tested to OEM electrical and hydraulic specs

Electronic Component — Not Eligible for Return

Due to the sensitive nature of electronic components, this kit is not eligible for return, refund, or exchange. Once an electronic sensor or solenoid has been in a customer’s possession, its internal calibration can be compromised by handling, static, or moisture — and we cannot verify or resell it as new. All electronic component sales are final. Defective parts and in-warranty failures are still covered under the 1-Year Limited Warranty above, subject to inspection and SPOOLOGIC’s discretion.

1-Year Limited Warranty

Every SPOOLOGIC VGT Tune-Up Kit — Vane Position Sensor + VGT Solenoid is covered by a 1-Year Limited Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of purchase. Warranty coverage requires that the unit first be shipped back to SPOOLOGIC for inspection. If SPOOLOGIC determines the failure was caused by a defect in materials or workmanship, the sensor will be repaired or replaced at SPOOLOGIC’s discretion. Warranty does not cover damage from over-oiled aftermarket air filters, contaminated intake air, water ingestion, physical damage to the sensor element or housing, improper installation, incorrect wiring or connector damage, use outside the listed fitment, or cosmetic wear. Warranty does not cover labor, shipping, towing, downtime, or any other costs outside the sensor itself.
