SPOOLOGIC Turbo Vane Position Sensor

The SPOOLOGIC SL-600-035 Turbo Vane Position Sensor is designed for the listed 2004.5–2016 Chevrolet and GMC applications with 6.6L Duramax LLY, LBZ, LMM, LML, and LGH engines. It supplies actual vane-position feedback so the ECM can compare turbocharger response with its commanded position.

Vane Position Feedback

The vane position sensor reports movement of the turbo’s vane mechanism to the ECM. The separate VGT solenoid meters engine oil to the actuator; the sensor does not move the vanes. Separating feedback faults from hydraulic or mechanical faults helps avoid replacing the wrong component.

Use the included electrical adapter where required on 2004.5–2005 Duramax LLY applications.

Common Vane Position Sensor Fault Codes

• P2563: Turbocharger boost-control position sensor performance.
• P2564 / P2565: Position sensor circuit low/high voltage.
• P003A: Turbocharger boost-control position exceeded its learning limit, where supported.

Code availability varies by model year and calibration. A stored code identifies a condition to diagnose; it does not prove the component has failed.

Diagnose Before Replacing

Compare commanded vane position with actual position on a capable scan tool. Check the sensor’s reference, low-reference, and signal circuits, including any adapter. A sticking vane mechanism, unison-ring wear, restricted oil supply, or faulty control solenoid can also cause a tracking or learning fault. P0045 concerns the turbo control-solenoid circuit and is not, by itself, a position-sensor diagnosis.

Installation Notes

Protect the sensor pigtail and keep debris out of the opening. Complete the applicable GM turbocharger vane position sensor learn after replacement and verify correct operation.
