The SPOOLOGIC Turbo Vane Position Sensor SL-600-035 is a brand new, direct-replacement variable-geometry vane position sensor for 2004.5-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500 6.6L Duramax LLY/LBZ/LMM/LML; 2004.5-2016 GMC Sierra 2500/3500 6.6L Duramax LLY/LBZ/LMM/LML; 2006-2016 Chevrolet Express 2500/3500/4500 6.6L Duramax; and other 6.6L Duramax platforms equipped with the factory Garrett GT3788VA VGT. It reports real-time vane position to the ECM so the ECM can confirm commanded vane movement and maintain closed-loop control of the turbo under every load and RPM. Plug-and-play into the factory VGT actuator — no re-programming, tuning, or piggyback module needed.
It’s the right vane position sensor for owners chasing down P0045, P003A, P226C, or P0299 codes, under-boost or over-boost events, hesitation, black smoke, or intermittent limp-mode events — the failure modes that almost always trace back to a failed or drifting factory vane position sensor.
What the Turbo Vane Position Sensor Does on the 6.6L Duramax
The vane position sensor mounts to the top of the Duramax LB7/LLY/LBZ/LMM/LML VGT actuator and feeds the ECM real-time position feedback for the variable-geometry vane assembly. Every time the ECM commands a boost change, it relies on this sensor to confirm the vanes actually moved. When the sensor drifts, cracks internally, or loses its calibration, the ECM loses closed-loop control of the turbo — you see under-boost or over-boost codes, hesitation, black smoke, and P0045, P003A, or P226C limp-mode events. Replacing the sensor restores accurate vane feedback and clears the turbo out of default protection.
Common 6.6L Duramax Vane Position Sensor Fault Codes
- P0045 — Turbocharger boost control position sensor circuit. The ECM has lost valid vane position feedback.
- P003A — Turbocharger boost control position not learned. The ECM cannot calibrate VGT position without accurate sensor input.
- P226C — Turbocharger boost control "A" slow response. Vane feedback drifting slower than the ECM’s learned range.
- P0299 — Turbocharger under-boost. Frequently posted when the ECM defaults after losing vane feedback.
- P0234 — Turbocharger over-boost. Posted when commanded vane closure is not being confirmed by the sensor.
Symptoms of a Failing Vane Position Sensor
- Under-boost or over-boost events — ECM commanding vane position it cannot confirm
- Hesitation, sluggish throttle response, and black smoke — VGT running open-loop against a default table
- Intermittent limp mode — signal dropouts forcing the ECM to protect the turbo
- P0045, P003A, P226C, or P0299 codes that come back after being cleared
- Check engine light with any of the codes above
Built to OEM Specification
Every SPOOLOGIC vane position sensor is built to factory electrical and mechanical specifications and pre-tested before shipment. Signal output, sweep range, and connector pinout match the original Garrett-supplied sensor — the ECM sees the same feedback curve it’s calibrated against, so no relearn or reflash is required.

Electronic Component — Not Eligible for Return
Due to the sensitive nature of electronic components, this sensor is not eligible for return, refund, or exchange. Once an electronic sensor has been in a customer’s possession, its internal signal calibration and hot-wire element can be compromised by handling, static, or moisture — and we cannot verify or resell it as new. All electronic sensor sales are final. Defective parts and in-warranty failures are still covered under the 1-Year Limited Warranty above, subject to inspection and SPOOLOGIC’s discretion.

1-Year Limited Warranty
Every SPOOLOGIC Turbo Vane Position Sensor is covered by a 1-Year Limited Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of purchase. Warranty coverage requires that the unit first be shipped back to SPOOLOGIC for inspection. If SPOOLOGIC determines the failure was caused by a defect in materials or workmanship, the sensor will be repaired or replaced at SPOOLOGIC’s discretion. Warranty does not cover damage from over-oiled aftermarket air filters, contaminated intake air, water ingestion, physical damage to the sensor element or housing, improper installation, incorrect wiring or connector damage, use outside the listed fitment, or cosmetic wear. Warranty does not cover labor, shipping, towing, downtime, or any other costs outside the sensor itself.
