MAP Sensor and Harness

This combination is useful when a diagnosed MAP fault involves the sensor and its adapter connection. The sensor measures manifold pressure; the harness carries the electrical connection to the engine wiring. Neither component changes the mechanical wastegate setting or the ECM’s boost limits.

Common MAP Sensor Fault Codes

• P0237 / P0238: MAP/boost sensor circuit low/high voltage.
• P0236: MAP/boost sensor range or performance, where supported by the vehicle’s calibration.

Code availability varies by model year and calibration. A stored code identifies a condition to diagnose; it does not prove the component has failed.

Diagnose Before Replacing

With the key on and engine off, compare absolute manifold pressure with local barometric pressure using the factory tolerance. Inspect the pressure passage, connector, reference supply, signal return, and signal circuit. If pressure data is believable but boost is low under load, check the charge-air system and turbocharger rather than assuming the sensor is defective. Inspect the main engine harness as well as the included adapter connection; replacing this pair cannot correct a fault elsewhere in the circuit.

Installation Notes

Keep debris out of the pressure port and intake opening. Inspect the seal or hose connection, use the application-specific tightening procedure, and verify live pressure after installation. Do not apply compressed shop air to the sensing element. Compare both harness ends before installation and secure the lead without tension.
