The SPOOLOGIC Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor SL-600-061 is a brand new, direct-replacement manifold absolute pressure sensor for 2001-2002 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L Cummins; 2001-2002 Dodge Ram 3500 5.9L Cummins equipped with the factory Holset HX35. It reports actual intake manifold pressure to the ECM so the engine can hit the correct injection quantity, injection timing, EGR flow rate, and boost target under every load and RPM. Plug-and-play into the factory engine harness — no re-programming, tuning, or piggyback module needed.
It’s the right MAP sensor for owners chasing down P0106, P0107, or P0108 codes, sudden loss of power under boost, unexplained black smoke, or intermittent limp-mode events on a truck that’s otherwise mechanically healthy — the failure modes that almost always trace back to a drifting or failed factory MAP.
What the MAP Sensor Does on the 5.9L Cummins
The MAP sensor sits on the intake manifold and reads the absolute pressure of the charge air after the turbo and intercooler. That reading tells the ECM exactly how much boost the engine is seeing under load, which drives injector pulse width, injection timing, EGR flow, and turbocharger control. When the MAP drifts high, the ECM under-fuels and the truck feels flat under load. When it drifts low, the ECM over-fuels and boost tables run off the wrong reference. When the signal fails outright, the ECM commutes to a default boost table and drops the truck into limp mode.
Common 5.9L Cummins MAP Sensor Fault Codes
- P0106 — MAP circuit range/performance. Signal is present but drifting off the expected boost pressure for the current RPM and load. Usually a contaminated or aging sensor element.
- P0107 — MAP circuit low input. Signal voltage is stuck at or near ground — failed sensor, damaged signal wire, or corroded connector pin.
- P0108 — MAP circuit high input. Signal voltage is pinned at reference — open circuit inside the sensor or an open in the signal return path.
- P0109 — MAP circuit intermittent. Signal drops out under vibration or thermal load — almost always an internal sensor fault, not a wiring issue.
Symptoms of a Failing MAP Sensor
- Loss of power under boost — ECM reading low pressure and commanding less fuel than the engine wants
- Black smoke and over-fueling — MAP drifting low, ECM over-compensating with fuel
- Hesitation, surging, or intermittent limp mode — signal dropouts forcing the ECM into default boost maps
- Rough idle or fuel economy loss — small MAP drift skewing fuel trim across the whole operating range
- Check engine light with any of the MAP-circuit codes above
Built to OEM Specification
Every SPOOLOGIC sensor is built to factory electrical and mechanical specifications and pre-tested before shipment. Signal output, calibration curve, and connector pinout match the original factory part — the ECM sees the same voltage response it’s calibrated for, so no relearn or reflash is required.

Electronic Component — Not Eligible for Return
Due to the sensitive nature of electronic components, this sensor is not eligible for return, refund, or exchange. Once an electronic sensor has been in a customer’s possession, its internal signal calibration and hot-wire element can be compromised by handling, static, or moisture — and we cannot verify or resell it as new. All electronic sensor sales are final. Defective parts and in-warranty failures are still covered under the 1-Year Limited Warranty above, subject to inspection and SPOOLOGIC’s discretion.

1-Year Limited Warranty
Every SPOOLOGIC Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor is covered by a 1-Year Limited Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of purchase. Warranty coverage requires that the unit first be shipped back to SPOOLOGIC for inspection. If SPOOLOGIC determines the failure was caused by a defect in materials or workmanship, the sensor will be repaired or replaced at SPOOLOGIC’s discretion. Warranty does not cover damage from over-oiled aftermarket air filters, contaminated intake air, water ingestion, physical damage to the sensor element or housing, improper installation, incorrect wiring or connector damage, use outside the listed fitment, or cosmetic wear. Warranty does not cover labor, shipping, towing, downtime, or any other costs outside the sensor itself.
