Common Holset HE351VE Failure Symptoms

If your 6.7L 24V Cummins turbo is showing any of these symptoms, a full rebuild is recommended:

• Variable vane geometry sticking or hanging — slow spool, lazy throttle response, soot buildup in the cartridge
• Excessive shaft play or oil seal leakage — blue smoke at idle, oil residue in the intercooler boots, end-play beyond OEM tolerance
• Bearing failure — whining, grinding, or whistling that scales with RPM
• Loss of boost and reduced power — turbo not building rated boost under load, derate codes, excess EGT
