SPOOLOGIC Performance Turbo Cartridge CHRA

The SPOOLOGIC SL-200-005 is a brand-new, preassembled GTP38 turbocharger cartridge with a billet compressor wheel. It fits early 1999 Ford F-250 F-350 F-450 F-550 Super Duty trucks equipped with the 7.3L Powerstroke and the Garrett GTP38 turbocharger. This CHRA combines a 5+5 5-axis CNC-machined billet aluminum compressor wheel, turbine shaft and wheel, upgraded journal bearings, a 360-degree thrust bearing, and step-gap seal rings. It arrives high-speed VSR balanced for installation into serviceable compressor and turbine housings, with O-rings and assembly bolts included. Also fits the Econoline models listed below when the original turbocharger and housing configuration match.

⚠️ Cartridge Only — Reuse Your Turbo Housings

This product includes the assembled turbocharger center section and the installation items listed below. Reuse the original GTP38 compressor and turbine housings; the outer housings and turbo pedestal are not included. Inspect the housings for cracks, wheel-contact damage, and other defects before reuse. Confirm the original turbo is the early-1999 GTP38 configuration. A 1999 model year alone does not distinguish it from the later design.

Upgraded Internals — Standard

The SL-200-005 is assembled with upgraded internal components designed to support shaft stability, axial loads, and oil control.

• Extreme-duty journal bearings and spacer: Support the turbocharger shaft and its lubricating oil film
• 360-degree thrust bearing and collars: Provide full-circle thrust-bearing support for axial shaft loads
• Step-gap seal rings: Installed at the compressor and turbine ends to help control oil leakage

High-Speed VSR Balancing

The complete CHRA—including the compressor wheel, turbine shaft, bearings, thrust components, and seals—is assembled in the SPOOLOGIC center housing and high-speed VSR balanced before shipment. Keep the compressor wheel, shaft, and rotating components assembled during installation to preserve that balance. The supplied CHRA does not require an internal rebuild before installation; the outer housings still require inspection, correct alignment, and proper assembly.

Installation Notes

• Match the cartridge to the original GTP38 turbocharger and housing configuration before disassembly. Engine size or model year alone does not establish cartridge compatibility.
• Inspect the compressor and turbine housings, mounting surfaces, and oil passages. A new cartridge does not repair damaged outer housings or correct an unresolved oil-supply problem.
• Follow the applicable service procedures for cleaning, housing alignment and clocking, bolt tightening, oil-system preparation, and initial startup.
• Do not loosen the compressor-wheel nut or separate the rotating assembly during housing installation. Verify free wheel rotation and check for oil, intake, and exhaust leaks before returning the vehicle to service.
