SPOOLOGIC Heavy Duty 304SS Up-Pipe to EGR Cooler

The SPOOLOGIC SL-510-006 Heavy Duty 304SS Up-Pipe to EGR Cooler replaces the passenger-side lower exhaust up-pipe on later 6.0L Powerstroke applications using the square EGR cooler. The pipe connects the passenger-side exhaust manifold to the upper Y-pipe and retains the EGR cooler branch. Stainless steel tubing, a bellowed section, and welded flanges provide a replacement for a cracked or leaking original pipe.

For the later square-EGR-cooler configuration. Verify the installed cooler shape and pipe connections before ordering, particularly on 2004 transition-year vehicles or engines with replacement components. Does not fit the early round-EGR-cooler configuration. This is the passenger-side lower pipe; the upper Y-pipe assembly is separate.

Up-Pipe and EGR Connection Design

This lower up-pipe carries exhaust from the passenger-side manifold toward the turbocharger and supplies the EGR cooler through its branch connection. Its bellowed section accommodates movement through heat cycles. A leak in the bellows, a weld, or a flange connection can leave soot and reduce the exhaust energy reaching the turbocharger.

Common Up-Pipe Leak Symptoms

• Dry black soot around bellows, welds, or flange connections
• Ticking, hissing, or exhaust noise that becomes more noticeable under load
• Slower turbo response, reduced boost, or reduced pulling power

These symptoms call for an inspection, not an automatic up-pipe replacement. Check the exhaust connections and charge-air system to identify the source of the problem.

Installation Notes

• Preparation: Work on a cold engine and follow the applicable service procedure for access. Remove surrounding components only as required by that procedure.
• Inspection: Confirm the EGR cooler configuration and inspect the upper Y-pipe, manifold outlet, and EGR connection. Clean the mating surfaces and replace disturbed seals as required.
• Alignment: Start the connections loosely and align the pipe assembly before final tightening. Do not use fasteners or clamps to pull misaligned parts together or force the bellows into position.
• Final tightening: Follow the applicable service specifications for the connections and supplied hardware. Confirm clearance from wiring, hoses, and surrounding components.
• Leak check: Reinstall removed components and check for exhaust leaks. After the first drive and a complete cool-down, inspect the connections for fresh soot.

This SPOOLOGIC up-pipe carries a one-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship from the original purchase date. Contact SPOOLOGIC for return authorization before sending the product for inspection with dated proof of purchase. Approved claims are resolved through repair or replacement at SPOOLOGIC’s discretion. The customer is responsible for all warranty shipping charges. Improper installation, overtightened fasteners, incorrect applications, damage caused by other failed components, environmental corrosion, normal heat discoloration, and cosmetic wear are not covered.
