SPOOLOGIC VGT Solenoid

The SPOOLOGIC VGT Control Solenoid — SL-270-006 replaces the electro-hydraulic control solenoid on the listed 6.0L Powerstroke turbochargers. It meters engine oil to the internal VGT mechanism in response to the engine controller.

VGT Control

The solenoid controls the internal hydraulic piston that operates the vane mechanism. It is mounted in the turbocharger center housing; it is not an external electronic actuator requiring calibration.

Common VGT Control Fault Codes

• P0046: Turbocharger boost-control solenoid circuit range/performance.

Code availability varies by model year and calibration. A stored code does not prove the component has failed.

Diagnose Before Replacing

Inspect the solenoid connector and wiring for open or short circuits. If electrical checks pass but turbo response remains incorrect, inspect oil supply and the vane mechanism before condemning the solenoid.
