Correct Bolt for the 94-97 TP38 Pedestal

The 94-97 TP38 pedestal uses four (4) M8 x 1.25 hex-flange bolts to secure the turbo to the top of the pedestal casting. This is different from the 99+ GTP38 pedestal, which uses only two turbo-to-pedestal bolts. If your truck is a 1999 or newer 7.3L, order the SL-320-007 kit instead.

When to Replace These Bolts

• Anytime the turbo is removed from the pedestal — bolts stretch under torque and should not be re-used
• Rusted, seized, or rounded OE bolts that will not come loose cleanly
• Oil weeping past the turbo-to-pedestal joint from under-torqued or missing bolts
• Any turbo swap, wicked-wheel install, pedestal rebuild, or up-pipe replacement job

Install Notes

Torque the four turbo-to-pedestal bolts to 18 ft-lb in a cross pattern per the Ford service procedure. Do not exceed 25 ft-lb — over-torquing pinches the turbo pedestal O-rings and causes oil leaks. Always replace the pedestal O-rings any time the turbo is unbolted from the pedestal.
